Ogston Sailing Club – Latest guidance on our response to Covid-19
As you may have seen in the news, North East Derbyshire will shortly be classified as Tier 2 under the governments Covid-19 restrictions. With Ogston Sailing Club being situated in NE Derbyshire we need to respond and adjust some of our previously notified procedures. As an organised sports club we can continue sailing, however we need to adjust some of our restrictions and rules. If you’d like to know more about the specific rules around what being in a Tier 2 area means then please take a look at the government website https://www.gov.uk/guidance/local-covid-alert-level-high There are also some recommendations for those living in or travelling from a Tier 2 or 3 area which you may wish to consider.
We would like to remind you of some of the basic safety precautions you should be taking during the pandemic. If you have any Covid symptoms (high temperature, persistent cough, loss of smell etc.) then you must not come down to the club. If you have been in contact with someone who has had Covid then you need to self-isolate and not come to the club until your period of quarantine has finished.
When arriving at the club you should scan in on the test and trace barcode and follow the standard precautionary guidelines of cleaning Hands, covering your Face and maintaining Space from others. If you cannot maintain 2 metres from someone else it is mandatory to wear a face covering. Otherwise you can follow the same guidelines for being outside. The rules for sailing and those on duty remain unchanged.
The clubhouse and bar will no longer be open for general use by members. You should seek to arrive at the club ready changed and go home to change after sailing. There may be some exceptions to this such as those needing to use the disabled changing facilities or for special circumstances. If you do have to use the changing rooms this should be limited to a short period and you must adhere to the separation rules.
The OOD will need to enter the clubhouse to retrieve the keys. The boat shed should only be entered by those on duty, and they should wear a face covering as they will be indoors and likely to get close to each other. If a member needs to retrieve something from the boat shed please ask one of those on duty.
In between sailing, when having lunch etc. then the rule of 6 still applies. You will need to sit outside and bring your own food and drinks. The kitchen and bar will not be available.
The OOD will be in charge on the day and you should respect and follow their requests if they remind you about adhering to the Covid rules.  The OOD is responsible for opening the club and keeping the clubhouse and boat shed locked when not in use. They and the safety crews have more detailed sets of guidelines to help them fulfil their duties while remaining Covid secure.
Thank you for your support during this difficult period. We are really pleased that we can continue to let everyone sail, and in return we ask that you follow the rules and guidelines. Together we can keep Ogston open and our members safe.
Thank you
The Covid Committee
