Enterprise Fleet

We are very lucky to have a large fleet of Enterprise sailors sailing regularly at Ogston Sailing Club, making it one of the largest fleets here. The Enterprise is a 4 metre, two-person hiking dinghy easily recognisable by its distinctive blue sails.

Originally designed in 1956 by Jack Holt for the then News Chronicle, it has become hugely popular and is sailed in about a dozen countries around the world. It is an accredited International Class. More than 23000 boats have now been registered, making it one of the largest classes of dinghy in the world. The class has attracted some of the biggest names in sailing and continues to do so attracted by quality racing and high turnouts for all abilities and ages, the boat is renowned for providing close tactical racing.

The Enterprise Association website is http://www.sailenterprise.co.uk/

Club Enterprise
Our club Enterprise is available to members for a small charge. This is a great asset for Ogston siling club as its in fantastic racing condition having been looked after well.

Recently Ogston entered the highly prestigious Southport 24 hour race with this boat and did extremely well! We will be taking it again in September 2025 – come and join us as all abilities are welcome!

Getting on the water
There will be a big effort this year to help would-be Enterprise sailors get on the water for club racing – look out in particular for ‘The Enterprise training’ day on Saturday 19th April 2025 and then the Inlands Championship on Saturday 10th May and Sunday 11th

All are welcome, even if you don’t have a boat or have never sailed one. Any members who are stuck for a crew/Helm but have a boat are encouraged to join the WhatsApp group created by Rosie and Philip Wilson. On this platform we link Helms and Crews and generally stay in touch with each other advising of events and advice.

To be added to the WhatsApp group please contact Rosie Wilson on 07792280874. (see also the ‘Helm or Crew Wanted’ section on the club website)
